I always had a keen interest in cars and really looked forward to working for BMW! I spent a few years in admin and ended up as sales liaison which was great as it gave me more opportunity to speak with customers rather than just dealing with the paperwork side. I then took a year and a half out to go travelling before returning to my sales liaison job which I then quickly progressed from into sales. I had been doing a door to door sales job in Australia which gave me the confidence to go into the sales role. I spent a few months at BMW gaining sales experience which was great and then an opportunity came up at our MINI branch to help out as they were a bit short staffed. I’ve always thought they were great cars and have such a popular following! I was actually only due to go there for a month but two years later, I’m still here!
I think one of the main reasons I decided to stay at MINI and have enjoyed the role so much is the environment in the dealership. It has a really inviting atmosphere to it and customers always make comments on how comfortable they feel in the showroom and they love the quirkiness of it! It’s also been great for me building up more sales experience in a more relaxed environment and being able to engage with customers and get to enjoy the brand too.
There’s something really enjoyable about seeing the smile on people’s faces when they come to collect their new cars. It’s something that for me it doesn’t matter how many times you do it, each time there’s still such an excitement about it!
With regards to John Clark as an employer, I think personally for me it’s given me great opportunities to progress into different roles and even across different dealerships and I’ve always felt really supported in each role that I’ve ventured into. I look forward to many years ahead with the company.
